Introduction: Pressure ulcers have a prevalence of 4.6% to 20.7%, they are considered as the last stage of a hospitalized patient presenting high comorbidities. The evaluation is very important for therapeutic development, which is carried out by scales such as Braden and Waterlow, assessing the risk of pressure ulcers. Likewise, its clinical follow-up is fundamental for the improvement of the patient's quality of life, the change of lifestyle and care plans must be modified for noticeable improvements. Objective: To develop a source of justifiable and updatable information on pressure ulcers for health personnel, highlighting their evaluation and clinical follow-up of this frequent pathology in geriatric patients with hospitalization conditions. Methods: Descriptive study arising from the compilation and review of bibliographic sources retrieved from PubMed, ElSevier, JAMA and Scielo, a search for conceptual foundations in American English was used in order to obtain more and better results. Twenty publications were selected, these were again reviewed and classified according to relevance and scientific impact, according to weighted scientific journals and number of citations to the article, and 18 scientific reviews were obtained.
